FAQ’s

How many sessions will I need?

Every individual progresses at their own pace, but Solution Focused Hypnotherapy tends to work fairly quickly. Most individuals notice positive changes after just 1 or 2 sessions. On average clients attend between 8 -12 sessions.

  • For smoking/vaping cessation: only one 2-hour session is typically needed.
  • For phobias: most people only require three session as well as the initial consultation.

How quickly will I see results?

Many clients begin to see improvements within the first couple of weeks – some even notice a change after the free initial consultation.

Do I have to re-live past trauma or discuss painful memories?

Absolutely not. In fact, you’ll be actively encouraged not to do so. Solution Focused Therapy is grounded in modern neuroscience and focuses on building positive change without needing to revisit trauma. During your initial consultation, I’ll explain the science behind your specific concerns in an easy-to-understand way, so you’ll feel informed and confident in the process.

Can I have Solution Focused Hypnotherapy while on anti-depressants or other medication?

Yes, in fact, it compliments them. Anti-depressants help by keeping the brain’s pleasure receptors open longer to absorb more serotonin – the ‘happiness chemical’. This style of therapy significantly helps your body create more serotonin.

How long does each session last?

Each session lasts for approximately one hour:

  • The first half is dedicated to solution focused talk therapy
  • The second half involves guided hypnosis

How do you put someone in trance?

There’s no swinging pendulums involved! You’ll simply be guided into a state of deep relaxation through calming music and visualisation, supported by my voice.

Will you control my mind or make me do things?

No. Even in a deep state of relaxation, you remain fully in control. Hypnosis isn’t sleep or unconsciousness – you may even chose to keep your eyes open. It’s a focused, aware state where you are in charge and fully in control.

What does hypnosis or trance feel like?

Most people describe it as a deeply relaxed state, similar to that peaceful moment just before you drift off to sleep.

Are there any risks to hypnotherapy?

No. You remain in control throughout. If anything in a visualisation or story doesn’t resonate with you, your mind will simply disregard it.

Can everyone go into a trance?

Yes. While some people relax more easily than others, everyone can enter a trance-like state. In fact, you probably do it daily – like when you’re totally absorbed in a book, watching TV, or whilst driving a regular route. Hypnotherapy simply uses this natural ability to quiet your mind and help you focus on positive change.
